Philippe Yu Senior Software Developer at AMD

About

I work on Windows kernel-mode GPU graphics drivers at AMD in Markham. The heart of that work is crash and fault diagnostics and driver reliability: getting to the cause of a failure, and making the driver more stable. Alongside it, I architect multi-agent systems that use retrieval-augmented generation and tool-calling to automate root-cause analysis, generate high-fidelity debug reports, and offer real-time code-fix suggestions.

Kernel-mode drivers, crash diagnostics, and those agentic systems are where I go deep. I led a team to re-architect AMD crash dumps and drove key driver stability improvements for AMD Crash Defender. I spearheaded AI workflow adoption across engineering units, reducing mean time to resolution and generating $2M in annual savings, and collaborated with Microsoft on new developer tool features for Windows as part of GDC 2026.

Featured work

From the senior role at AMD.

AMD Crash Defender

Led a team to re-architect AMD crash dumps and drove key driver stability improvements for AMD Crash Defender. Current work is Crash Defender and related infrastructure inside the AMD graphics driver, including amdfendr.sys.

Multi-agent diagnostic system

Architected an extensible multi-agent diagnostic system using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and tool-calling. It automates root-cause analysis, generates high-fidelity debug reports, and provides real-time code-fix suggestions. Spearheaded AI workflow adoption across engineering units, reducing mean time to resolution and generating $2M in annual savings.
